Most gutter trouble around here does not call for a new system. A corner that drips onto the patio, a run that dips between two hangers, an end cap that lets go after a few summers of roof heat: these are repair jobs, and gutter repair in South Florida is where Southern Gutters FL starts every conversation. Chance and our crew look at what failed, figure out why, and tell you whether a fix will hold.

We work on seamless aluminum, older sectional gutters and systems other companies hung, from our North Lauderdale shop out across Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade. If replacement is the smarter money, we say so and point to the reason on the gutter itself, not on a sales sheet.

Is your gutter worth repairing, or is it time to replace it?

The symptom tells us where to look. The condition of the aluminum, the fascia behind it and the size of the gutter tell us what to recommend. Here is how that usually shakes out.

How we weigh a repair against replacement
What we findUsually a repairUsually a replacement
Drips at one or two corners or end capsReseal or rebuild the miter; new riveted end capOnly if the corners are corroded through
A run sagging between hangersNew hidden hangers into sound fascia, then re-pitchIf the run is kinked or the fascia is rotten end to end
Sectional gutter leaking at many jointsA short-term reseal when the budget is tightSeamless runs remove most of those joints
Overflow even right after a cleaningAdd a downspout or enlarge an outletUpsize to 6-inch on very large roof planes
Pitting and chalky white corrosion near the coastSpot fixes rarely last longReplace the affected runs

When the evidence points to new gutters, our gutter replacement service explains how a tear-off and reinstall works, and the guide on deciding between gutter repair and replacement goes through the same reasoning in more depth.

Leaks, sags and roof-edge drips: the repairs we handle most

Three problems make up most of our repair calls. Each one has its own page with the full detail.

  • Resealing or rebuilding corner miters, end caps and drop outlets
  • Hanger replacement and re-pitching of sagging or backward-sloped runs
  • Reconnecting downspouts that have separated from their outlets
  • Closing gaps at the roof edge where water slips behind the gutter
  • Written notes on any fascia rot, soffit stains or corrosion we find

Water dripping from seams, corners or end caps

A seamless gutter only has joints where it must: the miters at each corner, the end caps and the outlets where downspouts drop. Those joints are where sealant ages first in our heat. Our leaking gutter repair work covers scraping out failed caulk, re-riveting and resealing, or rebuilding a corner that has gone too far.

A quick hose test shows exactly where a corner joint is letting water through before any sealant comes out.

Runs that sag, pull away or hold standing water

When hangers back out of the fascia, the gutter tips forward and water pools in the low spots. Sagging gutter repair and re-pitching means re-hanging that run on new hidden hangers and setting a steady fall toward the outlet.

Leaks at the roof edge, behind the gutter

Sometimes the gutter is fine and the water is sneaking behind it, down the fascia and into the soffit. Our roof-edge leak repair closes the gap between the drip edge and the gutter, and we are upfront when a leak belongs to a roofer instead.

Gutter hanger replacement, end caps and corner leaks: where most fixes start

Most repairs come down to a handful of small parts. Knowing which one failed tells us whether the fix is quick or a sign of something bigger.

  • Hangers. Hidden hangers hold the gutter to the fascia with a single screw. In soft or damp wood the screw strips and the hanger lets go. Older homes may still have spikes and ferrules, which loosen with every storm; we swap them for screwed hidden hangers.
  • End caps. The cap is crimped and sealed onto the end of the run. UV and summer roof heat break down the sealant, and a cap that was never riveted can work itself off. Gutter end cap repair usually means a new cap, rivets and fresh sealant.
  • Corners. A gutter corner leak is the complaint we hear most. Two roof planes, often a valley, dump water into the same joint, so it takes the heaviest flow and the most debris.
  • Outlets. The drop outlet where the downspout connects can crack or separate, especially after a mower or ladder knocks the downspout.
  • Pitch. Every run needs a steady fall toward its outlet. Gutter pitch adjustment fixes runs that hold water or send it to the wrong end.

Gutter repair near me, including systems another company installed

Plenty of the homes we visit had gutters put up by a roofer's sub, a builder's crew or an outfit that no longer answers its phone. We don't need the original installer's paperwork to repair the work, and we don't steer you toward a full tear-off to win the job.

What we do need is a clear look. Some problems were built in from day one: hangers spaced too far apart, a run pitched backward, a single 3x4 downspout trying to drain a roof plane that needed two. When we spot an installation mistake, we explain which part of it a repair can solve and which part it cannot.

Typical before

Typical condition before gutter repair: a run dipping between loose hangers, a gap at the fascia and a drip at the corner joint.

Typical after

Straight re-pitched gutter run tight to the fascia with a resealed corner on a stucco home after gutter repair
After repair: the run sits tight to the fascia on new hidden hangers, falls evenly to its outlet and the corner stays dry.

Small jobs are welcome

One loose end cap or a single leaking corner is a perfectly good reason to call us. We also take removal-only jobs when you want old gutters taken down without buying new ones.

What happens on a repair visit, from ladder to cleanup?

  1. We walk the whole system, not just the spot you pointed out, checking hangers, joints, outlets and the fascia behind them.
  2. Where it helps, we run a hose into the gutter so you can see the drip or the low spot for yourself.
  3. You get a written quote that lists each repair. Nothing starts until you approve it.
  4. We do the work: old sealant scraped out, joints riveted and resealed, new hidden hangers driven into sound wood, and pitch reset against a string line.
  5. We flush the gutter again to prove the fix, then haul away old parts and debris.
  6. We follow up after the job, ideally after the next real rain, to confirm it is holding.

Our 3-year workmanship and 20-year materials warranty covers new installations. On repairs, the written quote spells out exactly what we fixed, so there is no question later about what was and was not touched.

What drives gutter repair cost?

We don't post repair prices, because two leaks that look identical from the driveway can take very different work. Your free estimate becomes a written quote built from these factors:

  • How many joints, hangers or outlets need attention, and how many linear feet must be re-hung
  • Story height and roof type; working below barrel tile takes more care than a one-story shingle roof
  • Whether the fascia behind the gutter is solid or needs a section replaced first
  • Debris to clear before repairs can start, such as packed black olive leaves or palm seed pods
  • Downspout changes, like adding an outlet or reconnecting to an underground drain
  • Access around pool cages, hedges and narrow side yards
  • Gutter style: copper, half-round or box profiles take longer and use harder-to-match parts
  • Corroded-through or cracked sections that have to be cut out rather than sealed

Gutter repair in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and the cities between

Coastal homes in Pompano Beach tend to show corrosion at joints first. Mid-century houses in Fort Lauderdale are more likely to have old spike hangers, while long runs on newer homes in Coral Springs often lose their pitch. Farther north in Boca Raton, tile roofs and HOA color rules shape how a repair is done.

Who should repair your gutters, and what should you check first?

Permits, HOA review and contractor paperwork

Your city or county building department decides whether a repair needs a permit, not the contractor. Broward and Miami-Dade fall inside the Florida Building Code's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, so fascia replacement or re-hanging long runs can draw more scrutiny there than resealing a corner. Many HOAs require architectural approval before a gutter color or profile changes. The Florida DBPR licenses contractors for structural work, so ask whoever you hire for any license or county competency card that applies, plus a current certificate of insurance. If fascia or framing is involved, call the permit desk before work starts.

Why homeowners call a family-owned crew for repairs

Chance has owned Southern Gutters FL since about 2020, and the business still runs on the promise it started with in West Palm Beach: free estimates through follow-up calls, start to finish. Quality and Value are the two tags our 54 Google reviewers pick most, and several mention removal-only jobs nobody else would take. Our insured crews work Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, and we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Reviewers also mention gates latched for the dogs and cut edges painted, habits that carry over to small repairs.

What customers say about our gutter repair work

4.9 average from 54 Google reviews · Read all reviews

“Had new seamless gutters installed due to previous installation being done improperly and causing water damage. Chance fixed the issues with new appropriately sized seamless gutters that look super clean and even added some underground drainage to get the water away from the house where it was pooling. Highly recommend. Pricing was competitive after several other quotes.”

Gutter Repair questions, answered

Is it worth repairing gutters or should I replace them?

Usually it is worth repairing when the aluminum is sound and the trouble is limited to joints, hangers or pitch. Seamless aluminum lasts a long time when it is looked after, and a good repair costs far less than a new system. Replacement makes sense when corrosion has spread, a sectional system leaks at many joints, or the gutter is too small for the roof. We show you what we see and put the recommendation in writing.

How much does a typical gutter repair cost?

There is no honest typical number without seeing the job. Cost depends on how many joints or hangers need work, story height, roof type, fascia condition, debris and any downspout changes. Our estimates are free, and the written quote lists each repair separately, so you can approve all of it or only the items that matter most to you right now.

Can you fix gutters another company installed?

Yes. We repair seamless and sectional aluminum gutters regardless of who put them up, and you do not have to buy new gutters to get a repair. If the original install has a design flaw, such as hangers spaced too widely or too few downspouts, we explain it and give you options for correcting it.

Do you repair gutters the same day?

Sometimes. When the schedule allows, we can come out the same day, particularly for a gutter hanging loose or pulling off the house. We never promise a guaranteed arrival time. If a storm has brought a run down, tell us when you call so we can plan a make-safe visit and a proper repair afterward.
